Age: Rangiku's age is actually unable to be determined. However, she is somewhere around 100 years old, due to information given in canon.

Sexuality: Straight [But she could be swayed otherwise if she drinks enough]
Appearance: Rangiku is a fairly young shinigami. She appears to be around her early thirties and has long, wavy red hair, crystal blue eyes, and a beauty spot on the right side of her mouth. She is of average build with very large breasts. She takes much pride in the way she looks, often fussing over her hair and the like at the worst possible times. In any case, it has been speculated that Rangiku wears her Shihakushou open at the front as a way to distract others during battle. It is indeed an effective tactic, but she would never ever reveal something like that.

There is no doubt that she is probably one of the most beautiful shinigami in Soul Society, especially with her unique appearance and she knows that and.. will flaunt it if necessary.
Personality: Rangiku is very approachable and bubbly. She adores people and is quite possibly one of the most social shinigami in Soul Society. Her favorite hobby is going out to drink with other officers and partying. She has a terrible habit of stashing her alcohol around the Juuban office.. For her Taichou to find to his EXTREME distaste at times. She gets scolded for it, but never learns.

Rangiku does not particularly enjoy doing boring paper work. Anything boring, in general, really. She tends to sleep on the job, leaving Hitsugaya to do everything. Her relationship with him is something of one a brother and sister would have. She annoys him and he shoos her away, but they care for each other very much.

Though she may be a little lazy and a little too carefree, Rangiku is very loyal and cares for her Taichou. She will compromise her own safety to protect him and knows when to be serious in certain situations.

Abilities/Strengths: Ability-wise, Rangiku possesses the ability to use all of the fukutaichou-level spells in the Kidou Repertoire. This includes the first sixty or so of the Binding Spells, eighty of the destructive spells, and a variety of others that can be used in combat or even every day life. Another shinigami-specific ability is the use of 'shunpo' or 'flashsteps'. She can channel her energy into her feet, giving herself the ability to stand in the air and move at extremely high speeds to get from point A to point B. Her other abiilities stem from a special sword called a Zanpakutou. The zanpakutou is an extension of the shinigami's soul that can be summoned for use in combat. In Rangiku's case, her Zanpakutou is Haineko [Or Ash Cat. This is put into more detail in the 'Notable Possessions' section <3]. The Zanpakutou is something unique to the user and is ultimately impossible to steal, for if the sword is put in the hands of another person, it will appear to weigh over a ton. Other strengths would be long-range combat.. Sleeping.. A high alcohol tolerance...

Weaknesses: Rangiku carries an emotional burden that has been with her for quite a long time. Her emotional attachment to Ichimaru Gin has always been a very touchy subject with her and his constant leaving without saying something bothers her.

Bringing him up often prompts her to drink heavily and makes her depressed.

Rangiku is not very skilled at close-range combat. Her zanpakutou's abilities have caused her to work on long-range over short-range. Though she is capable at performing certain tasks in combat at that range, she isn't very good at it for several additional reasons. Rangiku is a very graceful person, however, any large-chested person will agree that one's center of gravity is close to nonexistent. She is very clumsy even outside of fighting and can be seen going the extra mile to run into or fall off of something when she loses her balance. Aside from this, she makes up for her clumsiness in her swordsmanship ability.

Notable Possessions: Rangiku carries Haineko, a chisa katana with a stylized triangular guard mimicking a cat's head. An accomplished swordswoman, her reach and power are enhanced when she calls her zanpakutou's shikai with the phrase "Unare." The first level of the shikai release makes Haineko's blade dissolve into razor sharp particles of ash, hence the name. The ash is capable of cutting through most material and surfaces with ease, making Haineko an adept long range weapon. A secondary shikai release, not as often seen, coalesces the ash into a large gray wildcat, similar to a cougar. This is the physical embodiment of Haineko's spirit and can be found at times in the company of her wielder.

Rangiku's bankai is similar to the shikai release, with a few major differences. With the phrase "Motoyori", the ash hardens even more, taking on a diamond like consistency and multiplies according to the dust and dirt in the area around her. This allows her to split the ash clouds, which will attack any and all foes near them. If an attack is aimed at Rangiku, the ash reacts, moving to block and retaliate.

She's proud of her progress with her blade, and can hold her shikai as long as needed, but her bankai is still fairly new to her, and she's currently working on extending the length of time it's active.

History: The first thing Rangiku remembered was someone's voice, telling her to 'eat up'. Without thought, she took the food and his hand and never looked back. Life in the slums of Runkongai was harsh, but she learned to survive by doing whatever it took. In time, she became an accomplished thief thanks to the tutelage of her silver haired partner. Days found them running the streets, causing trouble and trying to stay away from the gangs that roamed for their deadly fun. Nights meant huddling together in whatever shelter they could find, if any, and talking.

She grew, tall and bright, and beautiful, but her crystal blue eyes were always following his gaze; to the white towers. To her, they meant freedom and life and never going hungry again; and the chance to keep others from having to live like they had for so long. Time passed and found her walking among the white towers she'd stared at as a street rat. She was to be a shinigami; one of the privileged few able to wield reiatsu and blade to do the 13 Squads service.

The diamond in the rough was polished to brilliance, showing an aptitude for blade work and the intricate dance involved in such things. Her personality was wicked but never mean, and she gained many friends with her open heart, but there was a spot saved for one and one alone. Her silver fox; the one that had saved her. She followed his progress and grew close to him again as they passed through their time at the Academy, both rising quickly. Again, more time passed and found them assigned to divisions. She was thrilled to be offered a seat so quickly, settling into her spot with ease and grace. Gin rose even higher and she had to smile at the news of his promoted to Fukutaichou of Gobantai under Aizen Sousuke. Her own followed at its own pace and she found herself the second in Juubantai.

Her old taichou retired after his long service and she knew she was a shoe in for the spot, but she was shocked when another was placed above her. At first, she was distant from the young captain, but over time, her respect and admiration grew. After a while, they were among the closest teams the 13 Squads had, seamless in battle and complimentary in most other things. She found happiness in her place and never expected it to change, but change came when the three captains betrayed them all.

Her own silver fox had left her behind and for a long time, her grief poured from a sake bottle along with the tears in the dark that no one could see. In the daylight, she remained strong and steady, always with her captain; forever loyal. As the pain of treachery grew dull, she had settled into yet another routine; helping her captain with the decimated divisions, directing her own in his stead and running missions in the lower world when time allowed. Her smile returned, but it was tempered by a darker shine to her eyes.
